Solo Competition

The Sound Symphony Orchestra is sponsoring a solo competition to be held on Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8, 2010. This competition is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists. The winner(s) will perform as a featured soloist with the Sound Symphony at one of the orchestra's 2010-2011 season concerts. Contestants must be under the age of 19 as of January 1, 2011. Suitable repertoire would include any solo piece with orchestral accompaniment. All works must be performed in their entirety.

Contestants will be judged on overall performance, style, and suitability of performance with orchestral accompaniment. All contestants will be auditioned privately. Accompanists are the responsibility of the contestants. A second keyboard will be available for those accompanying pianists. The judges reserve the right to select more than one winner, or to select no winner. The decisions of the judges are final.

Applications must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2010, and must include a non-refundable $50.00 application fee in the form of a check or money order payable to THE SOUND SYMPHONY. Receipt of the completed application will be acknowledged by the competition committee in writing, and audition times will be specified. Return completed applications, including application fee and your biography, to the address below.
