How exciting it is to rehearse again! All players and our music director are required to be at least 14 days beyond finishing a 2-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine in order to rehearse and perform. This policy begins on Thursday 9/23/21 and is in effect until further notice. Proof of vaccination in the form of a CDC card, picture of CDC card or NYS Excelsior Pass is required at the first rehearsal you attend. Proof of booster vaccination is optional at this time. Your vaccination is considered current for 1 year after your last dose, and may last longer than that depending on the infectious risk scenario in calendar year 2022. For instance, if you finished your Moderna series on 4/1/21, your vaccination is considered current until at least 4/1/22.
We begin tuning at 7:30pm and playing shortly thereafter. Please plan on arriving prior to 7:30pm to show proof of vaccination to Daria Blyskal, MD (the orchestra’s general manager and a board-certified family physician). The only medical exemption that will be accepted is an anaphylactic (aka life-threatening) reaction to your first dose of Pfizer or Moderna. “Religious exemptions” will not be accepted.
Every member is required to wear a mask at all times while inside Comsewogue High School with the following exception: winds & brass while they are playing their instruments. These instrumentalists must use bell covers when possible. Every member will either use a separate stand or sit at least 3 feet apart from his/her stand partner.
Please do not attend rehearsals or concerts if you have potentially infectious symptoms including but not limited to temperature >100.4, cough, and loss of sense of smell or taste. We will not be checking your temperature or performing any other type of medical exam while you are present, nor will you be filling out any type or pre-attendance symptom form. This self-assessment of symptoms is done on the honor system.
